Taking The Meeting Out Of The Office: New Avenues For Customer Interaction

meeting

With all of the technological changes that have occurred just in the last five years, it is no wonder that business is changing rapidly as well.  Where once you had to sit in the same room and have a conference for a sales pitch, many companies are moving to exclusively online interactions.  If you want to stay in contact with your customers, there are three new avenues that you are going to have to get used to.

Mobile

Cellular phones have been around a long time, and now they are rapidly replacing landline for most families.  Getting a call from a customer on a mobile phone is not something new, but what they expect from you when they call will be.  Because smartphones and tablets are so powerful, customers expect that you will be able to access their accounts and process orders or requests any time that they call you.  If you do not have a system in place for handling customer orders when you are out of the office or away from a computer, then you will start to lose sales rapidly.

Social Media

Unless you are only selling industrial supplies, your customers are going to expect you to have a social media page, and they are going to expect that page to be updated with content on a fairly regular basis.  The longer you go between updates, the more distant you will feel to your customers and the more likely it will be that they seek out a new company to do business with.  You need to be prepared for negative comments, as well as harsh attacks on your social media page, and you need someone whose job it is to keep the page clear of unwanted posts.  While this might feel like cheating, you need to portray a positive image to your customers and comments that attack your company do not accomplish that.

Skype

The day of the face-to-face meeting is rapidly coming to a close.  Meeting with people has just become too costly and too difficult for some people, so they are looking for other ways to communicate.  Because of high speed internet access and the availability of high quality web cams, more and more business is being done over Skype.  Now you can talk to the other party, even if they are on the other side of the world, and you can see them at the same time.  Through Skype you will be able to show and demonstrate your products or services to customers before they commit to a purchase, without either of you ever leaving your office.

There are a lot of changes to the way that people are interacting to do business, and you need to make sure that your company can handle it.  If you use software, like CRM software, you can integrate all of these various avenues into a single portal and drastically decrease the complexity of your interactions.  CRM will give your staff mobile support, as well as allow you to interact with customers via social media.  In addition, you can make your sales calls on Skype through your CRM portal and have all of the customer’s information at hand while you are speaking to them.

I am Stacey Anderson, and I have been using SugarCRM for about six months.  SugarCRM software solutions has been a life saver on more than one occasion, and the integration of all of my other business programs means Sugar is the only application that I need to run most days.  I highly recommend SugarCRM to anyone who wants to stay ahead of the curve in modern business.
